After the very successful Christmas Cake Decorating workshops, I have decided to run some more beginners workshops covering a range of different sugarcraft techniques.

Cupcake Workshop
Learn how to create the perfect buttercream swirl. We will show you a range of technqiues using buttercream to cover your cupcakes. You will also learn how to create a selection of spring flowers to decorate your cupcakes, along with lots of sparkles and sprinkles.
We will provide you with 6 classic vanilla cupcakes to decorate and take home. All you need is an apron and plenty of enthusiasm.
Cost £35 for 2.5 hours

Birthday Cake Workshop

Learn how to create a perfectly iced cake. You will learn how to ice a dummy cake with fondant icing, showing you professional tips and tricks. We will teach basic sugarcraft modelling and how to create a gorgeous teddy bear to adorn your cake.

All you need is an apron and plenty of enthusiasm.

I've just finished putting away all the Christmas bits and bobs away.

Trying now to catch up on lots of admin and paperwork - not my most favourite thing to do.

I'm also busy thinking about the forthcoming wedding season. I've already had lots of enquiries and quotes.

I'm also busying designing some new wedding cakes for the 2012/2013 season - so watch this space.

Fabulous Festive Workshops

Just had another fabulous workshop this morning. It was a Christmas Cake Decorating Workshop, where the ladies learnt how to marzipan and ice their own fruitcakes. We then made some simple festive decorations to adorn their cakes. It was a lovely relaxing morning and I think the ladies enjoyed it as much as me. I didnt realise how much I would enjoy teaching people sugarcraft skills.
I must remember to take my camera next time so I can show some of their fabulous cakes.

Crazy4Cakes has a selection of Christmas Cakes available.
Each rich traditional fruitcake is handmade and uses quality ingredients, the fruit is steeped in French Brandy before cooking aswell as a good dose before icing. We use local eggs and flour in the cakes which come in a range of designs and sizes.

3" square (feeds approx 9) - ideal as a gift or hamper.
4" square (feeds approx 16) - ideal for those who don't want too much cake
6" round (feeds approx 25) - ideal for families or those who just love cake.

Just let us know if you would like a different size or design or requirement. I regularly make special orders for those who don't like mixed peel or marzipan.

Also if you're not a big fan of the traditional fruitcake - why not try a white fruitcake which uses apricots, pineapples to give a lighter, tropical taste.

We also lovingly handmake our own mincemeat and mince pies.

Bob The Builder Theme

Bob the Builder is an ideal theme for any little boy or girl's birthday cake. This madeira sponge was decorated with 3D Bob the Builder and Pilchard characters.

But for something extra special - why not have matching cookies.

These shortbread cookies were decorated as Bob and Pilchard and put into a gift bag to give to guests.

Decadent Cupcakes

I love the classic vanilla cupcake but sometimes you want something more from your cupcake. So how about some of these gorgeously decadent cupcakes:

White Chocolate and Raspberry - white chocolate, raspberry puree and Creme de Framboise liquer sponge topped with raspberry buttercream and an english raspberry.

Heavenly Chocolate - Chocolate sponge topped with rich chocolate buttercream and chocolate shavings.

Banoffee - banana and fudge sponge topped with caramel buttercream, fudge and chocolate and caramel.

Wedding Cakes

Here are a few of my recent wedding cakes.

Ivory & Caramel Lace Squares
This one has become one of my signature cakes based on "Lace Squares". It was a 3 tier square cake stacked in a step style with an embossed lace detail trailing down the steps. The bottom tier was a rich traditional fruitcake with 2 tiers of Madeira Sponge and feeds approximately 140. The cakes were iced ivory with handmade ivory and caramel roses with crystal and deep burgundy bead details in each of the sprays.

Its A Date
This wedding cake was wonderfully different. The bride and groom were getting married on the 09.10.11 @12 and wanted to incorporate this in the design.The 3 tier cake was Madeira, Lemon and Chocolate sponge iced white with lilac ribbons. The floral topper was supplied by the bride to coordinate with her bouquet.

Chesford
This cake was a 2 tier square Madeira sponge cake iced in ivory with double ivory ribbons/bow detail and diamante strips around each tier. Each tier had piped champagne bubbles plus a silver scroll topper.
Simple yet effective.

Cake Toppers

Its been really busy recently particularly with cake toppers.

The cake toppers I make are often for Bride and Grooms. But this was a little different and I was delighted when I received a request to make a couple's little girl's christening topper. I made them a topper previously for their wedding and they wanted the matching set.

I've included a photo of Lilianna's topper and one of her parents topper for their wedding.

The toppers are made from a modelling medium and are very light and robust, making ideal keepsakes. There are lots of different styles in my Topper gallery.

Making cakes!

I made this cake for a customer last week and think its one of my favourites.

The cake was for the customers Mum, who is a superb cook and usually makes cakes (no pressure then). The customer decided she wanted something really special, so we designed the lady baking in her kitchen, with ingredients and cakes. Plus the esssential large glass of wine and her black cat eyeing up the cakes (who is never allowed on the worksurfaces!)

Recent birthday cakes have been very varied.

Cats at 60 cake was a fun one with two handmade sugar cartoon characters of the lady's cats.

This 50th birthday cake was a replica of Caroline's garden and her little dog. We managed to recreate a lot of the detail from the photos we were given. I was delighted when Caroline recognised it.

This cake uses lots of bright pinks and purples and has a very striking impact with butterflies and fantasy flowers.

Recent Wedding Cakes

Here are a few weddings have done recently. I think what I love about making cakes is they are always so different and individual. I rarely do the same cake again.

This 4 tier cake using a chrome stand. A lot of the cakes at the moment are stacked cakes so its nice to do separate tiers for a change.

The cakes were Lemon, Chocolate Orange, Madeira and Fruitcake. Each was iced in ivory lustre and had a gem & crystal garland around the base plus a burgundy ribbon.

The top tier had a large gem and crystal topper and burgundy gerberas.

This 3 tier stacked square cake in a "steps" style looked fabulous with its striking hot pink and black stars cascading down the steps and star fountain on top.

A 2 tier square cake using a gorgeous vintage sage ribbon and diamantes around the base with real flowers by the talented Julia Mitchell on top of each tier.

This 3 tier stacked gift cake with twisted squares was decorated with different silver ribbons and royal icing. A very effective cake that's a little different.

Cheeky Bride and Groom Toppers

I made the first cheeky Bride and Groom Topper last year for a couple who came to me with the idea.

The groom was wearing his traditional kilt for the wedding and they wanted a fun, personal topper.

So we had the bride with her hand on the groom's bum. We also included some sporty items to reflect some of their hobbies.

Since then the Cheeky Bride and Groom Topper has become very popular.

Here are two more I made recently.

They are always so individual and I love get the sneak previews of the bride and grooms attire. The hardest thing is not giving away any secrets about whose wearing what.

Garden Cake

This cake was for a client's daughters 50th birthday. She has had several cakes from me in the past so we have a good rapport and discussed ideas for the cake. She wanted to to recreate her garden and to include their little border terrier dog. She provided me with lots of photos to work from and I tried to include as much detail as possible and match the colours. The client and her daughter were delighted with the result.

Personalised Gingerbread Men

I completed this order a couple of weeks ago. Something very different. I was asked by the client to produce some personalised gingerbread with high quality text to be used for a photo shoot for the company's advert.
The company Playground Games based in Leamington make videogames and wanted something different for a job advert.

Lots of fun to do and the clients were very pleased with the outcome.

Australia meets Kenilworth

I had a very unusual wedding cake to set up last Saturday at the fabulous Kenilworth Castle.

The wedding cake as 2 separate tiers of rich traditional fruitcake.

Each tier was iced in a rich yellow with white silhouettes of australian animals - koala, kangaroo and duck billed platypus.

With contrasting green ribbons around the base of each cake and board. The two tiers were separated using a trumpet stand to give the cake height.

Two sugar 3D models of a koala and kangaroo sat on the bottom tier with a handmade Bride and Groom topper on the top tier.

The personalised topper included the groom in his basket ball kit (australian colours) with a bit of cheeky bit behind!

Great fun cake!

Heavenly sweet peas

This cake was a 3 tier stacked square cake set back so that the handmade sweet peas climbed up the steps.
The bottom tier as a rich traditional fruitcake, a decadent chocolate sponge and the all time favourite a madeira top tier.

The handmade flowers were all edible and including soft pink roses, and sweet peas in soft pink, fushia pink and lilac. Fabulous, traditional english flowers in light summery colours.

Silver Wedding Gifts

Silver Wedding Gifts was a 3 tier square cake with the tiers offset slightly.
The cakes were rich traditional fruitcake and 2 madeira cakes.

They were iced white with a variety of silver ribbons used to create the gift effect. The bottom gift was for the bride and groom, while the top two were for their children.
A lovely way to include them.

Boxing cupcakes

Another interesting order from a repeat customer. This time for her Dad's 80th birthday - she wanted to incorporate his passion for sport in particular, boxing.

So we created cupcakes with boxing gloves, cricket bat and ball, rugby balls and golf clubs.

The top tier cake was a 3D chair with a sugar character model of her Dad reading his beloved Boxing News!

The cupcakes and top tier were displayed on a cupcake stand.

I have done a real variety of birthday cakes for girls and ladies recently. Here are a few of them.

The first was a pink & black cake with clashing red detail and a star fountain to celebrate a 40th birthday. The cake was gluten free.

Pink and purple fairies with blossom detail for a joint 5th birthday party for two little girls. Fairies are always popular.

Gorgeous lime green and hot pink vanilla cupcakes with radley bags and louboutin shoes to celebrate a very good friends birthday.

Boy's castle cake

Having made a previous cake for this customer I knew that he expects the cake to have real wow factor.

There needed to be lots of detail in this cake - the requirements were a knight with a sword and a dragon.

Great fun to make and I do hope they were pleased.

A Morris Wedding

I think this must be one of my all time favourite wedding cakes.

Not only because I know the bride and groom but because it involved morris dance.

The cake itself was a 3 tier square stacked cake which consisted of a Madeira sponge, a Marble Chocolate and Vanilla Sponge and the top tier was Lemon (at the groom's request).

Simple burgundy gerberas on each tier but handmade topper was the most interesting.

The bride and groom were dressed in the morris kits, Windsor morris and Hexman Morrismen doing a double jig.

I also had the pleasure of attending their wedding - what a fabulous, relaxed day - traditional morris style. Congratulations Nicky & Will.

Purple Teapot and Fairy Cupcakes

This is definitely one of the more unusual cakes I have done. Firstly my communication with my client was long distance as she was in America and arranging a birthday party back in England.

She was quite specific and wanted a Ninja character as this was the birthday girl's nickname.

We used her favourite colour purple and incorporated this into the design for the Irises which were handpainted onto the 3D teapot.

There were also 5 dozen vanilla cupcakes, some with simple cream and lilac, some with lilac and purple blossom and some with purple and lilac fairies. It was a delight to do this order, lots of different things which makes it interesting and I think they all turned out really well.

Jungle animals 1st birthday cake

The customer asked for jungle animals for her little girls 1st birthday.

She wanted bright, cheerful colours and not too pink. The cake had a deep pink "1" on the top and lots of different jungle animals in 2D around the sides of the cake.

I had lots of fun making this cake and still can't decide which animal is my favourite.

Barbie Princess Cake

I was asked to create a "Barbie" Princess cake for a customer's daugthers birthday recently. While taking all the details I was surprised to find that it was the daugther's 21st birthday. I was very pleased with the result, the cake was too young but had plenty of pink and sparkle as specified by the birthday girl. I have decided you are never too old for a Princess cake!

Purple Wedding Cakes

Cadburys purple is very popular for weddings this year.
Here are two wedding cakes using this luxurious colour.

The first is a 2 tier square cake using ribbon separators with each cake sitting on a glass sheet. 6 handmade cala lilies drape from the top tier. Simple and elegant.

The second cake was a 3 tier square stacked cake set back in a "steps" design.

The embossed rose lace decoration ties in with the handmade white and purple roses which adorn each tier.

Dotty about West Ham

These are some cupcakes I made for my little sister's birthday last month. They were Vanilla cupcakes with Vanilla buttercream (plenty as requested by the birthday girl). Design wise - which girl doesn't like handbags and shoes. I chose hot pink and leopard skin for the colours.

Bob the Builder

Characters are always tricky to do because it's so easy for them not too look quite right. I think I just about got them right and I think I may have got a little carried away with all the details. Anyway I loved making this cake.

Narrowboat and Motorbike Birthday Cakes

The theme the other week seemed to be transport. It's wierd how I often get similar style or design cakes at the same time.

The first cake was for a gentleman's 80th Birthday. It was a 3D Narrowboat to reflect his love of canals and boating.

The second cake was a 2D motorbike cake.

There were also birthday cookies for the guests in the shape of motorbikes, vans, planes and flowers.

The client also requested personalised cupcakes which were boxed up for each family. Sounds like a fab birthday party.

DIY & Sporty Cupcakes

I had a huge order of cupcakes the other week for a big corporate gala dinner.

They had 270 vanilla and vanilla with chocolate chip cupcakes with vanilla buttercream swirls in silver and gold cases.

Each cupcake was decorated with handmade novelty toppers which were DIY related as the company was the Home Retail Group (which includes Argos and Homebase) and a selection of sporty items.

Lots of hard work but great fun.

40th Girly Cupcakes

Fabulous 40th Birthday - Chocolate top tier cake with vanilla and chocolate cupcakes.
The top tier was decorated with piped "40" and a 3D sugar model of the happy birthday girl sat on top.
The cupcakes had girly things - handbags and shoes in purples and pinks plus "40" and champagne bottles of course. What more could a girl want...

A Bit of a Do

I attending my local WiRE networking meeting where we had a Bit of a Do in aid of Oxfam to celebrate 100 years of International Womens Day on the 8th March. We had a great time and Emma from Oxfam gave a fab talk about what Oxfam are doing and what the money we raise goes towards. Everyone gave donations for the coffee (by the Clarendon Arms) and cakes, plus money for some flowers donated by Julia Mitchell.

A fun easy way to raise money and awareness, we raised £100.

So why not have your own "Bit of a Do".

18th Birthday Cakes

Lots of 18th birthdays recently and a real variety of styles.

The first one was for an avid golfer, using a simple 3D model and golf scene.

Another one for the boys, especially if you like Chocolate. With a more complex 3D model of the birthday boy enjoying a pint!

One for the girls, a princess turning 18. Never too old for a fairytale castle.

Monkey cake topper

I made this cake topper for a little girl's first birthday earlier this week.
The spec was 3 fondant monkeys is 3 different sizes. Other than that I was free to do as I please, sometimes a good thing and sometimes not.
I think they turned out well though and Mum was very happy with them.

Blue and green cakes

I love it when I get to use bright colours - the combination of ice blue and lime green is fabulous and ideal for boys or girls.

So was just the thing for a joint 16th birthday cake.

I also used the same colour combination with chocolate cupcakes recently for a lady's big 40th.

Wedding Fayres in Spring 2011

It all seems to be full steam ahead on the wedding front. Now that Christmas is done and dusted everyone seems to be focusing on their upcoming weddings. I have had lots of enquiries and consultations just recently.

I will exhibiting at a few local wedding fayres. This is a great way to meet people, see the cakes and most importantly taste them.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Cakes

I have had a few Mickey and Minnie Mouses to do recently, here are two I made in December.

The first is a small 6" round cake with a Mickey Mouse head to celebrate a little boy's first birthday.

The other cake was for a twin girls birthday. It was a 2 tier pink cake with white polka dots and a matching pink bow with black ears.

Princess Fairytale Castle

This birthday cake was a 2 tier Madeira sponge to create any girl's dream cake - a Princess Fairytale Castle.

Lots of sparkly pink towers and tiny red roses growing up the sides of the castle. The handmade 3D princess were made to resemble the two little girls who were celebrating their 5th birthday.

I had lots fun making this cake and it was rather special because one of the birthday girls is my daughter.

Ivory & Burgundy Wedding Cakes

Here are two cakes I made for a wedding at the end of November.

The cakes were for two parties to celebrate the marriage after the event.

Both cakes were rich traditional fruitcakes and both used the colour scheme, ivory and burgundy.

Red Calla Lilies
The first cake used a twist on the usual calla lilies by giving them matching burgundy inners.

Burgundy & Ivory Elegance
The second cake used a piped lace detail on the top tier while the bottom tier was dusted with pearl ivory to give a bit of sparkle.

Burgundy roses with Wedding Car Topper

Its been a busy month for weddings.

This is one of the wedding cakes I made at the beginning of December. It was a traditional rich fruitcake ideal if any is leftover for eating over the Christmas period.

This 2 tier square stacked cake is stepped back. The white icing has been embossed with roses.
There are edible burgundy roses to match the ribbons.

The topper is made from Artista so provides an ideal keepsake. The couple provided me with a sample used for their invites on which to base the topper.

Snow bears Christmas Cake

One for an 18th birthday, a keen footballer who loves Coventry City and looking forward to a few beers on his birthday.

The other for an 11year old who plays in goal and loves Aston Villa.

Thomas the Tank Engine - a simple design that is very effective.
The 2D design is made with fondant icing so everything on the cake is edible.

Wedding Rose Cupcakes

This wedding took place last Saturday at the gorgeous venue -The Woodside in Kenilworth.

The bride and groom wanted something a little different to fit in with their wedding in LA, followed by their wedding party at The Woodside.

They had 110 vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream swirls. Each cupcake was adorned with hot pink and fushia pink roses to match the bride and bridesmaids dresses.

Pride of place sat a personalised Bride and Groom topper. I loved their approach to everything and hope they had a fab day.

Here are a couple of new designs for Wedding Cakes for next spring.

Sweet Peas

The first is a 3 tier stacked square cake in a "step" fashion with beautiful Sweet Peas and Roses climbing up the steps in fushia pink, deep purple and pale pink.

Pistachio Flowers

This is a 2 tier cake using a Trumpet separator, which makes this smaller cake seem much grander. The cake is iced in Pistachio and decorated with white flowers.

Shrek Birthday Cake

Character cakes are always fun to do but often tricky. It's quite hard to get character faces spot on, sometimes it only takes a tiny detail and it's not quite right.

I am pleased with the way this cake worked out. The dragon is my favourite and worked best of all.
Shrek and Donkey weren't spot on but I was happy with the overall effect.

A girls 30th Birthday and a few of her favourite things

I just loved doing this cake. So fun and so different.

The top tier was 6" round chocolate sponge covered in chocolate icing decorated with piped "30"s all over. Sat on top was a 3D model of the young birthday girl.

There was a mixture of vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate buttercream swirls.

Some were decorated with "30"s and others with a few of the birthday girl's favourite things:

The cupcakes were displayed on a cupcake stand at the party which was held at a very popular local venue, The Almanack.

Football Cakes

Wierd how I seem to be getting all the same type of cakes at the moment.

I have done 3 very different football cakes this week and all for different football clubs.

I have made a 2D Liverpool Football Shirt for a young man's birthday.

A small cake for an Aston Villa fan.

And the nemesis to Aston Villa - Birmingham City. I have to say this was a really fun cake to do. The family came to me with the idea already drawn out - I hope I have managed to re-create as they imagined.

Fun Wedding Cupcakes and Topper

I set up this wedding at Ettington Park Hotel this Sunday. The most gorgeous setting in the Long Gallery.

The Bride and Groom wanted something very different and they definitely achieved that.
The cupcakes were vanilla and chocolate flavours and iced in pastel pink, blue, lemon and green, then decorated with white hearts and the bride and groom's initials.

There were also 4 special cupcakes with character bridesmaids and best man sat on each.

There was also a small top tier cake on which there was a personalised Bride and Groom topper of the couple performing their first dance, the famous Dirty Dancing dance with the incredible lift at the end. It was quick tricky to get the bride balanced correctly and I wish I could have been there to see them do it for real.

There were 3 tiers of Chocolate sponge and feeds approximately 110 people.

This wedding cake and topper was jut so much fun and so unusual. Both the bride and groom are pilots and the bride wanted their wedding cake topper to include their little red plane, the groom was blissfully unaware of this and thought they were having a traditional wedding cake. He was very pleased with the cake and topper.

The cake was a 2 tier square stacked cake, with a tier of chocolate and madeira sponge. This was iced pale blue and decorated with fluffy white clouds.

The wedding was at Mallory Court in Leamington Spa, and congratulations and I hope you had a fabulous day.

I think just shows that the sky is the limit when it comes to design.

Bride and Groom Wedding Cake Topper

I made this personalised wedding cake topper for the happy couple whose wedding was last weekend - congratulations.

The couple sent me lots of details regarding their hair, eye colours, clothes etc which makes it so much easier to create the topper.

I think my favourite things are the stargazer lilies and the groom's hair.

Medieval Wedding

This medieval wedding definitely had a style all of its own The bride wanted something in keeping with their theme and to serve as dessert aswell.

Cupcakes were the just the ticket, the flavours included vanilla, chocolate, lemon, orange and coffee each topped with buttercream rose swirls.

There was a 6" round top tier cake - also Coffee, the grooms favourite.

There were also shortbread favours shaped as shields iced in quarters with colours to match the wedding theme colours.
These were then iced with the bride and groom's initials and bagged with matching ribbons.
There were 2 large shield favours which sat in pride of place on top of the top tier cake.

The couple got married at Kenilworth Castle and then had their reception at St Johns Church Village Hall in Kenilworth.

The room had been decorated and the themed wedding was organised by Guinevere's Dream Events.

The room looked stunning and the staff costumes were fabulous. I wish I had seen the bride and groom arrive. What a fun day.

Harley Davidson Motorbike

The cake was a 12" Madeira cake which will feed approximately 60 people.

The Harley Davidson was modelled on Peter's bike and was made of sugar.

A Cheeky Couple Bride and Groom Topper

I had great fun with this Bride and Groom Topper.

The Bride and Groom were very much into outdoor pursuits such as hiking, skiing etc and wanted to include these.

The Groom was also going to be wearing a kilt and they wanted a cheeky scene.

I think we managed to achieve this and I hope they had a fabulous wedding at the weekend.

Roses and Thistles

Another wedding cake from last weekend, this time at the Woodside in Kenilworth.

A 3 tier square cake based on "Love and Lace" which I think has become a signature cake now.

The cake was decorated with handmade ivory roses and a posy on top including ivory roses, mauve thistles and decorative leaves.

Green and Blue Wedding Cake at Kenilworth Castle

As promised here is the green and blue wedding cake in the full.

The cake was 3 tiers of fruitcake and madeira sponge.

The white icing provided a great contrast for the green and blue colours.

There are handmade sugar blue hyrdrangea and a green goddess cala lily that wrapped around the base of each cake with kiwi green ribbon used to decorate the separators.

The cake was topped with a personalised Bride and Groom Topper.

What I loved about this cake was the colours, just so vibrant especially with the beautifully sunny weather and a stunning backdrop of Kenilworth Castle.

21st Birthday Cakes

So we were looking for 2 quite different designs - sporty for the boy and a classy but feminine look for the girl.

Stunning Wedding at Compton Verney

I have been to the beautiful wedding venue Compton Verney this morning to set up a wedding cake.

A simple but elegant wedding cake consisting of 3 tiers. A traditional fruitcake and two Madeira Sponges iced in ivory and adorned with a red ribbon and a few rose petals.

The marquee looked fabulous and all the catering was provided by Compton Verney's suppliers Amadeus Food.

Holy Communion Cake

Roses Galore

This 3 tier wedding cake used these gorgeous huge roses, sometimes a cake needs nothing more than beautiful flowers by Lili Floral Art.

Another lovely venue, Walton Hall. I really think we are spoilt for choice in Warwickshire for good venues.

The cake was a fruitcake and 2 chocolate sponges and feeds approximately 130 people.

The bride and groom wanted something special for the children attending the wedding, so they had a mixture of cupcakes, some personalised, the others with buttercream rose swirls to complement the cake. The colour scheme was white and 2 shades of pink to match the flowers and bridemaids dresses.

The personal touch was the silver monogram on the corners of the cakes.

The top tier had long lilies with bear grass draping down onto the second tier.

Arrow Mill Hotel Wedding

I have finished setting up a wedding cake for Hollie and Keith at the Arrow Mill Hotel today. This is my first cake at the Arrow Mill Hotel and I have to say it's one of those hidden gems. I hope I do lots more here.

The cake "Spring Blossom" was a 3 tiers of Madeira, Chocolate and Lemon Sponge and feeds approximately 100.

The top tier stood on a Trophy separator and provided the cake with a wonderful grandeur.

The shoulders of each cake were decorate with pale pink roses, cerise pink, blue/purple and white blossom with pale green piped detail.

Hollie and Keith's personalised bride and groom topper sits on top and the cake had pride of place with a gorgeous view of the water behind.

Its was lovely to see such vibrant colours, very spring like. The room was being beautifully dressed and the gorgeous sweet peas and roses by Flower Thyme worked wonderfully.

I am sure it was a fabulous day despite the weather not being on best form.

Wedding cakes to finish

Two wedding cakes to do this week both very different.

I can't give too much away yet but one is 3 round sponges stacked and decorated with edible roses and blossom, the colours are blue-purple, cerise pink, pale pink and white. So I am busy making roses and finishing off their bride and groom topper.
I thought I might try doing a quick guide to making roses when a get a few spare minutes.

The other cake is 2 separate traditional fruitcake tiers, square but with a difference. I am making cala lilies to go on the top tier and drape down.
I will post the pictures of the finished products at the weekend.

A cake with that wow factor

A cake which will certainly stand out from the crowd as being a little bit different is the wonky cake.

This cake was for one of my favourite customers for whom I have made quite a few cakes. But this one was for her, and was a surprise organised by her hubby and daughter. They wanted a cake with wow factor and this cake has oodles of that.

The cake was an 11" and 8" round carved to create the wonky effect and then iced white. The cake was then decorated with handmade flowers is a variety of shapes and sizes in a lilac and purple theme with a yellow accent colour. The cake also has a bead and fondant flower fountain.

I loved making this cake and the overall effect is fab - I just hope she likes it.

Kenilworth Castle Wedding Cupcakes

A wedding with a vintage style all of its own.

A mixture of large cupcakes with ivory buttercream and soft lilac roses alongside mini cupcakes with dusky pink buttercream adorned with ivory anemones.

These cupcakes were the classic vanilla with vanilla buttercream plus some special eggless cupcakes.

All of the flowers are handmade in sugar.

The setting for this wonderful wedding was Kenilworth Castle's Gatehouse, one of my favourite places.

Two Weddings and a Rugby Festival

What a hectic week! I had two very different wedding cakes last week.

Vintage Elegance which used ivory, sage green and pale pink colours. This 2 tier cake was decorated with a fondant greeen ribbon and ribbon rose and handmade pink rose in 2 delicate shades on top. The bottom tier was a Madeira while the top was a gluten free Vanilla Sponge.

The second wedding cake was a 2 tier square cake stacked in a step style.
This white cake was decorated with handmade sky blue butterflies in 2 sizes, the larger ones are adorned with gems.

And just to keep me on my toes, I have been busy helping with the organising of our Mini and Junior Rugby Festival which took place this weekend. A busy weekend but always fun, even better when the sun is out. I am very proud of my two boys as their teams both won their age group. Well done Kenilworth.

New Wedding Cakes with Sparkle

I have just finished a two new wedding cakes that have a bit of sparkle to them.

The first is a 3 tier round stacked with piped flower and dot detail on two of the tiers. The middle tier has a teal bow with an antique green brooch. This sponge cake will feed approximately 100 people.

The other cake has a black and white theme with diamante ribbons around each tier.

There a delicate pink roses which are handmade adding a soft touch to the cake. The square sponge cake will feed approimately 80 people.

This simple but beautiful cake was iced in ivory with iced flower and dot detail and adorned with Champagne gold ribbons and brooches.

My Fair Lady Wedding

Just finished and delivered a beautiful "My Fair Lady" style black and white wedding cake.

3 round tiers in different flavours means there is something to suit everyone's taste.

Each white tier was decorated with white dots stringing around the cake and black bows at the top of each swag.

The cake was topped with a personalised Bride and Groom Topper plus the couples dog. A beautiful day at a lovely venue at Ardencote Manor.

I set up a wedding cake for Lisa and Andrew at Ettington Park this Saturday.

What a beautiful setting for a wedding, a stunning building and lovely grounds. They have an open day tomorrow ( Sunday 28th Feb) - definitely worth a look if you need a wedding venue.

The cake is a 3 tier stacked rich traditional fruitcake covered in white icing. It is adorned with pale pink and claret roses with white blossom and swirls with hints of pewter.

The Bride and Groom Topper sits on top of the cake in pride of place. It is personalised to match the Bride and Groom's attire, what a fabulous colour dress.

Bride and Groom Wedding Cake Toppers

I am currently busy making 2 different Bride and Groom Wedding Cake Toppers for upcoming weddings.

Its lovely having a sneak preview of what the Brides are going to be wearing - there are so many gorgeous dresses out there. The brides send me photos and swatches, giving me lots of detailed descriptions of what they'll be wearing and what they look like and the grooms of course.

At the moment the brides have the bases but are headless but not for too long...
The boys have trousers and shirts and are also headless and armless.

Now unfortunately I cannot put any photos of my work in progress as I have been sworn to secrecy so you'll have to wait like everyone else.

Pink Christening Cake and Hand painted Iris

A lovely 2 tier pink Christening Cake. Madeira Sponge and Rich Chocolate Sponge - something to suit everyone.

Pink gingham ribbon with a cute pink train on the top tier and pink name blocks around the base.

I really enjoy using my creative skills, especially when painting. The hand painted Iris seemed very apt for this lady's birthday.

Graffiti cake

I decided to try something a little different with this cake. Twelve year old boys are always hard to design a cake for.

I came up with the idea of using his name in a Graffiti art style. I choose his favourite colours and incorporated the flames theme.

I have to say I was really pleased with the effect as was Dylan.

The only thing was, the plaque is definitely not edible with all that colouring!

My little pony

"That is soo lovely" were the words my daughter said when I showed her her birthday cake.

She was very specific about what she wanted and did complain that there weren't enough ponies!
Overall both she and I were pleased with it.
